Saxmundham – Teenager arrested in connection with drug offences

Police have arrested a teenage boy in connection with drug offences in Saxmundham.

Officers on patrol had cause to stop and search an 18-year-old man under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act in the town on Wednesday afternoon (13 May).

While speaking to the man, three other males approached but when requested to stop by an officer, they made off.

One of the males, aged 16, was found a short time later at around 3.10pm in St Johns Road, with a quantity of suspected drugs, cash and drug-related paraphernalia.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and possession with intent to supply other than Class A and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was subsequently released under investigation.

The 18-year-old man was given a cannabis warning.

A further male, was also later located and stop searched but he was not found with any suspected drugs.
