Ipswich – Assault and theft appeal
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and had property stolen from him in the Chantry area of Ipswich last week.
The incident occurred at around 5pm on Friday 10 May outside the shops in Ellenbrook Green.
The victim - a man aged in his 50s – came out of one of the shops and was approached by a group of teenagers, one of whom stole his tobacco pouch and ran off with it. The victim gave chase, leaving his shopping bag in the ground, and the suspect circled round on him and punched him in the lower back.
The victim then looked back to where he had left his bag and initially could not see it, before spotting that it had been moved from where he had left it. When he went to retrieve it he was then punched again in the lower back by another member of the group.
The two boys accused of punching the victim are described as white and aged between 14 and 16 years-old. They were part of a larger group of teenagers, all estimated to be in the same age range, and with descriptions of three of the others given as two white females and one black male.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact Ipswich West Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 quoting reference 26300/19.
