Ipswich – Woman charged with attempted murder in connection with flat fire

A woman has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident of arson in Ipswich.

Emergency services were called just before 3.50am yesterday morning, Monday 13 May, to reports of a fire at a flat in Fitzgerald Court.

A woman aged in her 30s suffered serious burn injuries and was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. She has since been transferred again to the Chelsea and Westminster burns unit.

Fiona Foster, aged 33, and of Old Foundry Road in Ipswich, was arrested by officers at around 8.30am yesterday morning and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning

She has subsequently been charged with the following two offences: attempted murder; and arson with intent/reckless as to whether life was endangered; and has been remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 14 May.

A woman aged in her 30s suffered serious burn injuries and was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

At around 8.30am this morning, officers arrested a 33-year-old woman from Ipswich on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and she was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
