Haverhill – Appeal after arson


Officers are appealing for witnesses or information after an incident of arson in Haverhill.

Emergency Services were called at just after 11:45pm last night, Sunday 10 November, to reports of a suspicious fire at a building used by the Muslim community as a family centre on Camps Road in the town. Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service both attended the scene.

Entry had been forced to the building and a small fire is believed to have been started deliberately by unknown offender/s. The Fire Service dealt with the fire quickly. The building was empty at the time and nobody was hurt as a result of the incident.

Enquiries are continuing at this time and police are investigating the matter as a racially aggravated incident. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team quoting reference number 68250/19.
