Burstall – Man named following fatal collision

A man who died following a fatal road traffic collision is being named by police.
 
Officers were called by the ambulance service at 1:10pm yesterday, Monday 10 June to reports of a collision on Hurdle Makers Hill, the A1071, in Burstall, involving a lorry and a Peugeot 206 car.

The driver of the car, a man, sadly died at the scene.

The lorry driver has sustained minor injuries.

Pending formal Coroner’s inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Keaton Whelan from Newnham Court, Ipswich.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should contact Suffolk police on 101 quoting reference CAD 189 of yesterday 10 June. Officers are particularly keen to hear from any motorists who may have dash cam footage.

Police can confirm that a man has died following a road traffic collision in Burstall.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 1:10pm today, Monday 10 June to reports of a collision on Hurdle Makers Hill, the A1071, in Burstall, involving a lorry and a Peugeot 206 car.

The driver of the car, a man, sadly died at the scene.

The lorry driver has sustained minor injuries.

The road has been closed in both directions at the junction of the A1071 and the B1113, and the A1071 and The St/Church Hill junctions to allow an investigation into the circumstances of the collision to get underway. Diversions are in place and it is expected that the road will remain closed for some time. Police are advising motorists, especially those in larger vehicles, to avoid the area if possible.
