Man arrested following collision in Haverhill

Police, gas engineers and the fire service are currently on the scene of a single vehicle collision in Haverhill.

Officers were called at approximately 7pm today, Friday 9 August, following reports a gas main had been damaged following the collision in Sturmer Road.

A 22-year-old man from the Haverhill area has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Sturmer Road is currently closed between Boundary Road and Falcon Road, and a small number of residents have been evacuated as a safety precaution.
