Gippeswyk Park incident - update

A police investigation into an alleged incident at an Ipswich park earlier this month is now closed.

Officers received a report that a teenage boy had been sexually assaulted in Gippeswyk Park at around 8.50pm on Friday 7 February.

Following a full investigation and after working with the male concerned, detectives are now satisfied that no criminal offence took place.

Suffolk Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and would reiterate that all reports of this type are taken very seriously and thoroughly investigated.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in Ipswich.

Officers were called at 8.50pm on Friday 7 February, to reports of a sexual assault in Gippeswyk Park in the town. The victim is a male youth.

There is a currently a police cordon in place within the park while investigations take place.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious or who may have been in or around the park between 8pm and 9pm to come forward. This includes anyone who may have been driving on roads surrounding the park around the time, in particular drivers of vehicles with dash-cameras fitted.
