Debenham - Appeal after assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Debenham.

The incident took place on Monday 26 August at around 6.30pm on the High Street in the village.

It is reported that a man driving a van stopped his vehicle near to the fish and chip shop, got out and approached a man in his 50s who was walking home. An altercation took place and the van driver punched the victim in the face causing him to fall onto the road. As a result the victim sustained cuts to the back of his head which required hospital treatment.

The victim and suspect are known to each other.

A 46-year-old man from the local area was arrested by police on 30 August in connection with the incident. He has been bailed to return to police on 5 November.
