Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Bungay.

It happened on St Mary's Street  on Thursday 26 September at some point between 7.30pm and 8.30pm where a male, aged in his 60s, was assaulted.

A group of four or five males assaulted him whilst he was walking back to his car. He was knocked unconscious and sustained a fractured right eye socket and a laceration to the back left side of his head.

The victim required hospital treatment after the incident and he has now been released from hospital.

There is a description of one of the males who is described as aged about 19 years old, about five foot eight inches tall, of slim build and had short blonde hair that was longer at the front and swept over his face. The other suspects were aged between aged 16 to 19 years old and wearing casual clothing.

Enquiries are on-going and anyone who has knowledge of the incident or saw any suspicious activity is asked to contact police, quoting crime reference 37/45453/19.
