Casualty in Great Barton RTC named

Police are now able to name a pedestrian who died in a road traffic collision in Great Barton .

Officers were called at just after 11am, Monday 1 July, to a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the A143 at Great Barton.

Pending formal Coroner’s inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Egidijus Linauskas who was 35 years old and of no fixed abode. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries but he died earlier on Thursday 11 July.

A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of dangerous driving has been released under investigation.

Officers were called at just after 11am, Monday 1 July, to a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the A143 at Great Barton.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries but he died earlier this morning (Thursday 11 July). Next of kin are aware.

A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of dangerous driving has been released under investigation.

A 35-year-old man arrested yesterday after a serious road traffic collision in Great Barton has been released under investigation.
 
Officers were called at just after 11am, Monday 1 July, to a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the A143 at Great Barton.
 
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries and he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the lorry, a 35 year-old-man from Bury St Edmunds failed to stop at the scene but was located by police a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has now been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Great Barton today.
 
Officers were called at just after 11am, Monday 1 July, to a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the A143 at Great Barton.
 
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, has been taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries and his condition is described as critical.
 
The male driver of the lorry failed to stop at the scene but was located by police a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
 
The road was closed while initial investigations were carried out by the Serious Collision Investigation Team but has since re-opened.

Emergency services are at the scene and the road is currently closed while initial investigations are carried out.
 
Motorists are advised to find another route while the road is shut.
