Newmarket – Rape investigation update

Two men arrested on suspicion of rape have been released under investigation.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Kingston Passage and Sun Lane in Newmarket between 3.30am and 4am yesterday, Sunday 1 December.

The victim – a woman aged in her 20s – was approached by two unknown males who then raped her.

Two men – a 21-year-old and a 27-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of rape yesterday and were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they were questioned and subsequently released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are ongoing and the public can expect to see reassurance patrols conducted in the area over the coming days.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a rape investigation in Newmarket.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Kingston Passage and Sun Lane between 3.30am and 4am this morning, Sunday 1 December.

The victim – a woman aged in her 20s – was approached by two unknown males who then raped her.

The victim is being supported by specialist trained officers as detectives have been undertaking enquiries into this incident.

A police scene remains in place while an investigation is carried out.

Two men – a 20-year-old and a 27-year-old - have been arrested on suspicion of rape and have been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned.
