We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary role within our Server Team, the post will be involved with installation, support, maintenance, fault resolution, performance optimisation, and systems availability of our Policing focused Servers.  Knowledge of Server operating systems is essential along with the linked associated storage.  This unique temporary role will focus on supporting the JML Project (Joiners, Movers, leavers) investigating changes to the Identity Tool, linking to Role based access controls (RBAC) providing efficiency targeted changes for both Officers and Staff across Norfolk & Suffolk Constabularies.

The postholder will be required to be highly skilled and be adaptable to a changing environment, working to very tight deadlines to meet the challenging Projects programme set for 2022/23.

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • BTEC/HNC in an IT/Computing discipline or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of working in a large Microsoft Server/Technology environment (Windows Server 2008 onwards with Active Directory)
  • Demonstrate experience of server virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V, Citrix, and VMware)
  •  Demonstrate experience of working with Microsoft Server Applications (Microsoft Exchange, IIS)
  •  Proven experience of providing third line customer support and solving complex technical problems
  •  Proven ability to work as part of a team and to work under own initiative as required
    Proven ability to deliver complex technical solutions to high priority problems on time and within budget
  • To provide flexible working hours / overtime / on call as required
  • Full UK driving licence, owing to the need to drive police vehicles carrying heavy equipment, occasionally out of hours

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Recent industry standard technical qualification such as MCSE/MCITP
  • Experience of working with products from the Systems Centre Suite, storage area networks (SAN’s) and high availability based technologies (e.g. Clustering, DFS-R, Exchange DAG’s, Load Balancing)

Role profile: 

Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday.  This post is offered on a temporary basis.

Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
