Applications are invited for the above post within the Public Protection Unit at Landmark House.
The successful applicant will be part of the Public Protection Unit, whose responsibilities include management of Registered Sex Offenders, Violent Offenders and Potentially Dangerous Persons in the community.
The successful applicant will also visit and carry out risk assessments on registered sex offenders, as well as assisting in managing sex offenders in the community on a multi-agency basis. This work is undertaken in conjunction with other agencies including the National Probation Service (NPS), Children and Young People Services (CYPS) and the Prison Service. Multi-agency management is undertaken within the framework of the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA).
The role also requires some investigation and on occasion enforcement should offences be identified.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Effective communication skills and the ability to adjust style to the audience as required
- Experience of working effectively within multi-agency partnerships
- Proven ability of working using own initiative whilst prioritising and maintaining a well-structured workload
- Experience of using a range of information sources to produce timely reports and make effective decisions
- Ability to work in unpleasant or difficult circumstances whilst dealing with potentially distressing information including conducting unannounced home visits to offenders
- Ability to undertake low risk safety training
- Ability to drive and travel throughout the county and beyond in relation to business for the role
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- An understanding of law and procedures relating to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and legislation relating to managed offenders
- Experience of investigative interviewing and/or conducting volume or complex investigations
- Experience of conducting structured risk assessments of situations or people

Hours of work are 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, working office hours with a degree of flexibility to meet operational/appointment needs.
There will be an information evening held at Force Headquarters, Martlesham at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd October. Prospective candidates are welcome to attend for discussion and input with the Public Protection management team.
In addition to the post available at Landmark House, candidates successful at interview will be held on a select list for 6 months should future vacancies arise.
The role may be required to work at other establishments across Suffolk Constabulary as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such circumstances.
The post necessitates the successful applicants to have powers designated by the Chief Constable.
Requirement to undertake 5 day Management of Sex Offenders and Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) course
The job holder may be requested on occasion to work outside standard core hours as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such circumstances.
Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
