This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed Tackling Organised Exploitation Project Team, which is part of Chief Constable Simon Bailey’s national portfolio. Applications are invited from both internal and external candidates.
Although the Tackling Organised Exploitation Project Team are based at Norfolk Constabulary Headquarters, Wymondham, the post is part of a national entity and so remote working will be considered upon application.
Over the last few months, national portfolio leads for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, Modern Slavery, County Lines and Serious Violence, have been scoping opportunities to improve the way in which we work together to pursue offenders who exploit vulnerable people and to understand how we can better inform prevention activity for these types of harm.
This has led to the creation of the Tackling Organised Exploitation Project Team, led by a Detective Superintendent. The team’s vision is to develop a cohesive response to tackling organised exploitation between local, regional and national law enforcement and wider partnerships.
The core purpose of the role will be to transform the intelligence capability nationally through the use of technical platforms that improve the effectiveness of our response for these type of harm. By drawing on advances in technology, our aim is to enrich the intelligence picture across different types of organised exploitation to accurately inform decision-making, tasking and accountability; and consequently, improve the response to the organised exploitation of vulnerable people.
The successful applicant will work as part of the team to produce an evidence-based business case for the 2020 autumn spending review, evidencing the need and methodology for a Tackling Organised Exploitation Hub within a twelve-month regional pilot.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Experience in the analysis, interpretation and inference development of complex information [not necessarily in policing]
- Significant experience of, or qualifications in, up to date analytics, insights and data visualisation tools and methods
- Evidence of the ability to analyse, model and interpret data
- Good communicator with the ability to interpret and explain complex and technical issues to a non- technical audience
- Experience of innovative and creative approaches to problem solving
- Ability to develop new working practices, and improving efficiency and effectiveness through the use of technology
- Ability to travel to other locations Nationally as appropriate
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Experience of transforming service delivery through the use of relevant technical platforms (e.g. SQL Server, OLAP, Power BI, SSIS, SSRS)
- Experience of advanced statistical forecasting
- Previous experience in the support of ICT projects
- Flexibility with working hours subject to operational requirements
- Knowledge and working experience within Law Enforcement and/or the vulnerability and exploitation arena
Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a temporary basis.
