This area contains the town of Stowmarket and 73 villages, with a population of around 102,000. Stowmarket has held an annual carnival for over 50 years in the recreation park, featuring a fun fair, local entertainment and a procession through the town. Stowmarket also plays host to the music festival Stow-Fest at Chilton Fields in the north of Stowmarket. It also contains the Food Museum, which occupies a 70-acre site close to the town centre. In the surrounding villages, you will find Haughley Park, a historic house situated in Haughley which is listed in the English Heritage Register; Helmingham Hall; and Needham Lake, which is the site of a local nature reserve.
