The Lowestoft area includes Lowestoft Town and surrounding parishes, Beccles and Bungay. Lowestoft is very much known for its beaches and tourist trade. Its port is used by local fishing vessels who fish off the Suffolk and Norfolk coastline. Lowestoft has a population of around 72,000 people and is the second largest town in Suffolk. The market towns of Beccles and Bungay are located more inland. Beccles lies on the River Waveney on the edge of the Broads National Park whilst Bungay lies within the Waveney valley, 5.5 miles west of Beccles.
