Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act places a duty of care on people to ensure they take reasonable steps in all the circumstances to meet the welfare needs of their animals to the extent required by good practice.
We work closely with other agencies to try and protect animals from abuse, but we also need you to report incidents of cruelty, neglect and mistreatment, so that action can be taken against those responsible.
Motorists and horse riders both have a right to use the road. They also share a responsibility to consider each other’s needs.
