Children and Young People
Police deal with children and young people all the time, in
different situations. If you are a child or young person you may
have met someone from Suffolk Police in one of the following
situations:
- When behaviour is a problem or someone makes a complaint
- To talk about your personal safety, for example about fireworks
at Halloween or cycling on the road
- At school when Police Community Support Officers or School
Officers come in to talk to you about information on subjects such
as drugs, bullying and personal safety
- When you have been a victim or a witness of a crime.
It is likely that most young people will not be involved in
crime, but some can be victims or witnesses of a crime. If this is
the case, Suffolk Police is here to help you.
As a young person the police can provide you with valuable
support and advice to help you through your experience to catch the
offender and prevent further crimes.
At Suffolk Police it is our duty to treat everyone equally and
with respect regardless of their age. When you are in a situation
where you meet a police officer he or she must deal with you
properly, they must treat you fairly, just like they would an
adult.
