Key Facts

• Samundham & Framlingham are in the Suffolk Coastal District and the SNT is the largest in the county covering 52 parishes.
• The very rural area is predominantly farmland with a main trunk road, the A12, and a rail link running through north/south, connecting Ipswich and Lowestoft.
• Saxmundham is currently undergoing a period of renewal with major renovations being made to the High Street and other facilities in the town. The current resident population of Saxmundham is in the region of 4,000 and many new houses are being built around the town which will see the population rise further.
• Framlingham is a small rural market town with a population of around 3,000 and is historic and thriving, attracting tourists to the well documented castle and Mere.
• Agriculture is the most important industry in the area, but the majority of the working population travel to larger centres such as Ipswich, Norwich or Lowestoft which have main road and public transport links.
