Update - 27 June 2012
Officers investigating a report of a rape, which happened in
Ipswich, have carried out anniversary checks one week after the
incident took place.
The checks took place between 10pm and midnight on Tuesday 26
June along the waterfront in Ipswich.
Officers spoke to all people in the area asking whether they had
been in the same place last week and seen anything untoward.
Information received will now be followed up on to see if there
is anything, which can help move the investigation forward.
Ipswich Police have carried out a number of enquiries following
the report that a 21-year-old woman, who had been at the waterfront
on the evening of Tuesday 19 June, became separated from friends
and got into a silver three-door hatchback car that she believed to
be a taxi.
The occupants of the car, two men, took her to a flat where they
gave her a drink and one of them raped her.
The first man, who is alleged to have carried out the assault
and was driving the car, is described as of Indian appearance, in
his late 20s, 5 foot 5 inches tall, of large build with short black
hair with a birthmark on the right side of his face. He was wearing
a grey jumper and dark jeans.
The second man is described as white, in his late 20s, 5 foot 8
inches tall and of large build. He was wearing jeans and spoke with
a local accent.
She managed to leave and was met by a friend on Warwick
Road.
The incident was reported to police the following day and the
victim has been given support by specially-trained officers and
support workers from the Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
CCTV from the area is being reviewed and forensic work is being
conducted as part of the investigation and enquiries which are
taking place.

Police are carrying out inquiries in Ipswich today, Wednesday 20
June 2012, after receiving a report of rape.
A 21-year-old woman was at the waterfront yesterday evening,
Tuesday 19 June, when she became separated from friends and got
into a silver three-door hatchback car that she believed to be a
taxi.
The occupants of the car, two men, took her to a flat where they
gave her a drink and one of them raped her.

movements between leaving the waterfront and being on Warwick Road.
They want to speak to anyone who may have seen a distressed female,
particularly in the Devonshire Road and Warwick Road/Alexandra Road
areas of Ipswich in the early hours of this morning.
