Car damaged on A12 - Update

Update - 4pm 20 June 2012

Two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with an incident where an object was thrown from a footbridge over the A12 at Martlesham around 4am on Sunday, 17 June.

The windscreen of a silver BMW, being driven by a 41-year-old woman, was cracked in the incident.

Two teenagers – a 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl both from Martlesham – were arrested early today and interviewed about the incident. Both have now been bailed to return to police on July 17.

Two 15-year-old boys arrested on 19 June 2012 have both also been bailed until the same date, pending further enquiries.

Update 4.30pm - 19 June 2012

A second teenage boy - also aged 15 and from the Martlesham area - has been arrested on suspicion of causing a danger to road users. He was arrested this morning, Tuesday 19, interviewed by officers and has also been bailed to return to police on July 17.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing a danger to road users after a a silver BMW sustained damage to its windscreen when an object was dropped on it as it drove along the A12 around 4am on Sunday 17 June.

A 41-year-old woman was driving along the A12 under the footbridge when she heard a bang and the windscreen of her vehicle cracked.

The 15-year-old boy, from the Martlesham Heath area, was arrested yesterday evening, Monday 18 June, and taken into custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he was interviewed by officers.

He has now been bailed to return to police on July 17.

Officers are continuing to ask anyone who may have been in the area around this time to come forward if you saw anything suspicious. If you can help please call PC 1374 Turner on 101.

Police need to trace three individuals wearing dark clothing after a silver BMW sustained damage to its windscreen when an object was dropped on it as it drove along the A12 at around 4am on Sunday 17 June.

A 41-year-old woman was driving along the A12 at Martlesham, and as she went under the footbridge she noticed three figures on it. She then heard a bang and the windscreen cracked. The woman, who was unhurt, returned home and alerted police.

Officers are asking anyone who may have been in the area around this time to come forward if you saw anything suspicious or have any information about those involved.
