Your training will be broken down into phases:

Phase One

The training will consist of a variety of methods, including self study, classroom based learning, roleplays and computer aided research time.

This is specifically designed to produce officers who are capable of recognising their need for learning and seeking out the information for their own development.

You will receive personal safety training, first aid and computer training.

Phase Two

This consists of 10 weeks of being tutored at a police station by an experienced officer.

During this time you will be expected to complete a number of police action checklists which will be assessed by your tutor.

At the conclusion of this period you will reach independent patrol status, and will be posted to a response team based at a police station.

At regular intervals during the probationary period you will have a review conducted by the Learning Development Officer, where you will be expected to present your completed portfolio, evidencing activities that you have been involved in .This will help establish whether you have met the required standards to become an efficient and effective police officer.

The satisfactory completion of the National Occupational Standards over the probationary period will result in you achieving a Diploma in Policing, which is a nationally recognised qualification.
