Shotgun certificate

If you wish to apply for a shotgun certificate you will need to complete the shotgun certificate application form. Please print out the form, fill it in and then have it counter signed before posting it to:

Firearm Services Unit
Suffolk Constabulary
Martlesham Heath

The fee for a shotgun certificate is £50 and cheques/postal orders should be made payable to Suffolk Constabulary. Please also enclose four passport-style photographs.

If you are applying for a shotgun certificate and a firearm certificate together, known as coterminous certificates, the fee for the shotgun certificate will be £10.

Please read the instructions and guidance contained within the application form carefully.

Referring to Part D of the form, which has to be countersigned, please note the guidance notes on who may countersign.

Past or present commissioned officers and senior non commissioned officers of H.M Forces are also acceptable, as well as those with professional qualifications such as accountants, surveyors etc. Post masters, teachers, parish councillors and other persons of similar standing in your local community are also acceptable. Remember your counter signatory must have known you for at least two years.

Please note that you must sign and date both the declaration at question 16 on the front of the application form and the declaration at Part E, which is on the back page of the form.

We will deal with your application as quickly as possible. Our target is 30 working days. However, you will appreciate we have to consider these matters very carefully and have a number of enquiries to make. Please be assured that we will be in contact with you as soon as possible.
