If you wish to apply for a shotgun certificate you will need to
complete the shotgun certificate application
form. Please print out the form, fill it in and then have it
counter signed before posting it to:
Firearm Services Unit
The fee for a shotgun certificate is £50 and cheques/postal
orders should be made payable to Suffolk Constabulary. Please also
enclose four passport-style photographs.
If you are applying for a shotgun certificate and a firearm
certificate together, known as coterminous certificates, the fee
for the shotgun certificate will be £10.
Please read the instructions and guidance contained within the
application form carefully.
Referring to Part D of the form, which has to be countersigned,
please note the guidance notes on who may countersign.
Past or present commissioned officers and senior non
commissioned officers of H.M Forces are also acceptable, as well as
those with professional qualifications such as accountants,
surveyors etc. Post masters, teachers, parish councillors and other
persons of similar standing in your local community are also
acceptable. Remember your counter signatory must have known you for
at least two years.
Please note that you must sign and date both the declaration at
question 16 on the front of the application form and the
declaration at Part E, which is on the back page of the form.
We will deal with your application as quickly as possible. Our
target is 30 working days. However, you will appreciate we have to
consider these matters very carefully and have a number of
enquiries to make. Please be assured that we will be in contact
with you as soon as possible.
