Firearms certificate

If you wish to apply for a firearm certificate you will need to print out the application form, together with two copies of the Firearm Referee form.

Please read the detailed guidance on the back of the application form carefully.

You should include a fee of £50 and your cheque/postal order should be made payable to Suffolk Constabulary.

You must also include four passport-style photographs, which must be signed as detailed in Note to Part D.



As mentioned above, you will need to have two referees who will both have to sign your application form before you submit it. They must also complete reference form 125, which is attached. You should print these out, complete part A, and then pass the forms to each referee. They will need to complete and sign the form and then they must return the form directly to us.

The referees you nominate must have known you personally for at least two years. They do not have to be a professional person but must be of good character. If you nominate your employer as a referee they must know you personally, not just professionally.
We will be unable to progress your application until we have received both referees’ forms.

You will appreciate that we have to consider these matters very carefully and have a number of enquiries to make. Please be assured however that, once we have received your application, we shall deal with your application as quickly as possible.
