Diversity policy
Suffolk Police recognises its legal and moral duty as an
employer and service provider to treat all of its staff and all
members of the public fairly.
To achieve this we will actively promote a culture which
respects and values diversity and encourages good practice and
developments, which extend beyond the scope of existing
legislation.
We provide training to enable staff to understand their personal
responsibility and to recognise and value differences.
To achieve greater consistency we will provide a framework of
policies and practices to ensure that individuals are treated
openly and fairly, with dignity and respect and are free from any
form of harassment, intimidation, victimisation or unjustifiable
discrimination. Inappropriate behaviour will be discouraged and
challenged and measures taken to provide redress.
To progress diversity issues we will facilitate the contribution
of staff from minority groups, consult with local communities,
engage with regional and national associations and support the
development and implementation of service-wide initiatives.
