The Suffolk Police Authority And Its Committees

To assist the efficient and effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities, formal meetings are held regularly to consider the Authority’s business.

These meetings are held in public and the press are invited. In special circumstances, for example where personal details of people or the terms and conditions of tenders and contracts might be disclosed, or where the investigation or prevention of crime would be prejudiced by publicity, some parts of the meetings are held in private.

All formal meetings are publicised in advance and reports and background papers are open to public inspection where the issues are to be discussed in public. Reasons must be given if the Authority wishes to discuss matters in private.

In addition to meetings of the full Police Authority, there are a number of committees which meet regularly throughout the year. The committees can make decisions on behalf of the Authority, or make recommendations to the full Police Authority.

The Committees of the Authority are:

Engaging Communities Committee
Human Resources and Staff Liaison Committee
Monitoring and Audit Committee
Standards Committee
Strategy Committee
