Policing Pledge

pen and paperMembers of the Authority were disappointed to learn of the 'poor' grading given to Suffolk Constabulary by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) as a result of an inspection earlier this year. Whilst being graded 'fair' across 8 of the 10 pledge points, the overall grading awarded by HMIC was 'poor'.

This matter was discussed by the Authority on the day the results were published (9 October) and members supported some immediate steps to address performance issues including work at Safer Neighbourhood Team level. The Authority's Vice Chair, Colin Spence, will be working closely with Constabulary officers on this issue.

An update on the latest position will be considered by the Authority at its next meeting on 13 November.
