Policing Pledge
Following concern
expressed over the 'poor' rating issued by the HMIC as a
result of the recent inspection on the delivery of the Pledge,
the Authority was pleased to note the very positive action
taken by the Constabulary to respond to the situation. The
report presented to the Authority's meeting on 13 November
outlines the steps in hand to bring about improvements prior
to a re-inspection early in the new year - see link
below.
The Authority will, in the light
of these developments, now consider in discussion with the
Constabulary how it can most effectively monitor progress against
the Pledge into the future. To read more, please click on the

Policing
Pledge
Members of the Authority
were disappointed to learn of the 'poor' grading given to
Suffolk Constabulary by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of
Constabulary (HMIC) as a result of an inspection earlier this
year. Whilst being graded 'fair' across 8 of the 10 pledge
points, the overall grading awarded by HMIC was
'poor'.
This matter was discussed by the
Authority on the day the results were published (9 October) and
members supported some immediate steps to address performance
issues including work at Safer Neighbourhood Team level. The
Authority's Vice Chair, Colin Spence, will be working closely with
Constabulary officers on this issue.
An update on the latest position will be considered
by the Authority at its next meeting on 13 November.
Successful
Business Crime Forum
On 13 October the
Authority and Constabulary hosted a third Business Crime
Forum. Three local business owners gave delegates food for

outlook.
The inter active voting equipment
was used to capture views, including feelings of safety, table top
discussions took place around anti social behaviour and the impact
of the recession, while there was also an open and frank question
and answer session. Around 90 people attended and over 50
businesses were represented.
