Today at Ipswich Crown Court, Andrew Boyd has been given a 12 month custodial sentence following a road traffic collision in Hadleigh in September 2009 in which Chris Corder suffered serious injuries.

Sergeant Bob Patterson from Suffolk Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team says, “This case has been a lengthy and protracted enquiry, and its success is a reflection on the professionalism, dedication and commitment of the investigation team.

“The sentence imposed today cannot repay the devastating impact this incident has had on life of the victim Chris Corder, or pain and suffering imposed on his family. However, as far as the police investigation team is concerned, the conviction of Boyd is a satisfactory outcome.

“It is perhaps a measure of how distasteful this incident was to ordinary members of the public, how a driver could leave a person lying in the road after having hit them and make off, that prompted their assistance in helping the police through the public appeal by the family. I would like to thank the public for their assistance, in bringing the defendant to justice.”
