Police Constable (PC) Kevin
Green from Newmarket Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is due to
retire on Tuesday 9th March 2010 after 30 years service with
Suffolk Constabulary. His wife, Special Inspector Helen Green, is
organising his last police surgery as an opportunity to bid
farewell to the community he has served.
PC Kevin Green started his career with Suffolk Constabulary in 1980
at Sudbury but spent the majority of his career in Newmarket. He
has been a beat officer, response officer and more recently part of
the Newmarket SNT covering the town centre and All Saints. PC Green
has also given up his free time to train Special Constabulary
officers at Newmarket. He has also continued to support the Air
Cadets, an organisation he previously volunteered with as a Warrant
Officer and where two of his daughters are current members.
Special Inspector Helen Green says, "When members of the public,
shop owners and local businesses started finding out that Kevin was
retiring they asked me if any kind of event was being held so they
could thank him in person for all the hard work he has done for the
area. I can truthfully say that he is well known in the community
and many members of the public have told me he will be greatly
missed as he is so approachable for all age groups."
PC Kevin Green has been married to Special Inspector Helen Green
for nearly 25 years and has three daughters. His hobbies include
swimming, reading, boating and DIY.
PC Kevin Green’s last police surgery is being held at the Memorial
Hall in High Street on Monday 8th March at 11am. Members of the
public are encouraged to come
along.
