Sergeant Mark Beresford has recently been appointed as the new Sergeant for Leiston and Aldeburgh Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT). He replaces Sergeant Richard Gubbins who has been promoted to Inspector at Beccles.

Sergeant Beresford has been a police officer since August 1992 and has worked at Haverhill, Beccles, Lowestoft and Leiston. He spent 12 years of his career in the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

Sergeant Beresford says, "I am looking forward to my new role within Leiston and Aldeburgh Safer Neighbourhood Team. I have fond memories of the area and used to spend a lot of my time here in my younger years.

"I strongly believe that people should have the freedom to go about their daily business, without fear of anti-social behaviour or other problems. I shall be working with my team and partner agencies such as the local council, housing, schools and Neighbourhood Watch to do my best to make sure this happens.

"I will be doing a lot of work to raise public awareness of what work Leiston and Aldeburgh Safer Neighbourhood Team is tackling and how to contact us. This will ensure that if community issues arise people know who to contact and that we are here to help. For more information please visit our website at www.safersuffolk.org.uk or contact one of the team on (01473) 613500."

If you would like to raise any problems that are occurring within your local community, we invite you to attend the Public Meetings to help establish local policing priorities. These meetings are held monthly and the next is on Thursday 11th March at Leiston Community Centre 7pm-8pm. This meeting is for Leiston, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. If you are unable to make this meeting then please consult the website for more dates.
