Ipswich Central Safer
Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is working in very close partnership with
local businesses and the town’s Business Improvement District (BID)
company, Ipswich Central to raise the profile of an ever busier
part of town.
The SNT will have a Police Pod on Tacket Street serving as a
meeting spot for local shoppers and business owners to meet the
local team. Retail and Business Commerce Officer PC Charly Lingwood
says, "Developing relationships with business owners in Ipswich and
increasing their confidence in the service we provide is an
important part of my role and this is a fantastic opportunity to
raise the profile of this part of the town. It’s an especially busy
part of Ipswich as a main route linking the town centre to the quay
and is only busier since the development of the waterfront as well
as University Campus Suffolk."
Businesses in Tacket Street, Upper Orwell Street and the
surrounding area are all involved in bringing some Valentines’
sparkle to Ipswich this year offering a series of discounts to
shoppers on the day (starting at 9am).
Fiona Wright, Ipswich Central’s Marketing and Communications
Coordinator commented, "The town centre has many great areas to
explore, experience and enjoy. The Tacket Street/Orwell Place area
features a great mix of independent businesses, a real point of
difference for Ipswich from many other towns. The Safer
Neighbourhood Team has been key in raising awareness of this area
and we are really pleased to help support this initiative via
Ipswich Central Plus, our town centre loyalty scheme
www.ipswichcentral.com/plus."
