Suffolk Constabulary cares about its employees’ wellbeing and has a range of support and welfare services in place, if they need it.

All staff and members of the special constabulary can benefit from these support networks, which are made up of a number of individuals and groups, which are on hand to assist with problems encountered in the work or home environment.

First Contact Scheme

This group comprises of police and police staff who are available to give help to individuals on request.

Members have a broad range of experience and expertise and can offer assistance on a variety of issues.

Suffolk Black Police Association

This group consists of police and support staff from minority ethnic backgrounds. Their purpose is to provide a support mechanism to all serving ethnic minority members and work together with the Force to progress issues of racial equality. Click here for more.

Lesbian and Gay Police Association (LAGPA)

We are in the process of setting up a local support network, but in meantime staff can contact the LAGPA for assistance.

Occupational Health Unit

A full time nurse is employed and is a source of support on a wide range of medical and personal matters. This includes individual health screening assessments and general counselling.

The Welfare Officer

The Welfare officer gives support to all members of staff and can provide general counselling and advise on a wide range of personal and domestic problems.

Force Medical Adviser

The Force Medical Adviser deals with all medical aspects of police, police staff and special constables.  This covers an advisory referral service on all medical matters and includes facilitating higher levels of counselling.

Police Federation, Superintendents' Association and UNISON Representatives

The representatives of the above bodies have a wealth of knowledge and experience which can be used to assist in a wide variety of situations.
