The Safe and Sound Group
is a multi-agency partnership made up of Suffolk Police,
Trading Standards, Age Concern, Suffolk ACRE, The Pension
Service, District and Borough Councils, Social Care Services
and related Suffolk County Council departments.
The Group has the following remit 'Keeping
people feeling safe and confident in their homes'.
Safe and Sound receives funding from Crime
and Disorder Reduction Partnerships and Suffolk County Council, to
finance projects and publicity campaigns to reduce crime and fear
of crime that may affect older and/or vulnerable members of Suffolk
communities.
David Dyble, Chair of the Safe and Sound Group says: ”Bogus
Callers and Rogue Traders are a blight on society. They tend to
prey on the older and more vulnerable members of our
communities.
“The reported instances of incidents that involve
Bogus Callers or Rogue Traders are relatively few in comparison
with other types of crime.
"However the emotional effect on the victim, their relatives,
friends and neighbours cannot be underestimated. Everyone can
play their part in protecting our more vulnerable residents from
these criminals."
Safe and Sound is currently working on a number
of projects to raise awareness of
Bogus Callers. The Group have recently
organised the performances of Trickster and Scambusters plays which
attracted audiences across the county during May. These
musical plays were performed by The Soloman Theatre Company, and
the events were attended by representatives from the Police,
Trading Standards, the Pension Service and Age Concern, who were on
hand to answer queries after the
shows.
