Suffolk Constabulary, in conjunction with
various partners, is
working hard to stamp out unruly,
anti-social behaviour, which can cause misery to many
residents.
Anti-social Behaviour is defined as ‘behaviour
by a person which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or
distress to one or more other persons not of the same household as
the perpetrator’.
The definition describes the consequences of the
behaviour as opposed to the behaviour itself, which can be quite
wide ranging and includes: verbal abuse, vandalism, noise nuisance,
writing graffiti and smoking or drinking alcohol while under
age.
There is a wide range of measures available that
can help make a difference, including:
The Youth Nuisance Register,
Acceptable Behaviour Contracts,
Anti-Social Behaviour Orders and the
Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003.If you have any information
relating to anti-social behaviour which you would like to pass on
to the police, call 01473 613500.
If you need
immediate assistance always dial 999. You should dial 999 when life
is threatened or people are injured, or if there is a crime in
progress or an immediate police response is
necessary.
