Suffolk
Constabulary's Bike Safe Campaign has a simple aim…
…to reduce motorcycle casualties by:
· Improving rider awareness.
· Improving rider ability.
· Making you a safer, better rider.
“A course aimed at enhancing riding skills to
increase enjoyment and improve safety”
Suffolk Constabulary runs a
series of ‘Bike Safe' motorcycle workshops aimed at all riders who
want to improve their skills and ability to become better and safer
riders.
The courses are run within the spirit of
Bike Safe
a nationally recognised police run biking
initiative, where education is the key not enforcement, in a
conflict free environment.
Following the success of courses
held last year, Suffolk Constabulary will be running the
two-day course on the following dates in
2010:
August 13th and 14th
September 10th and 11th
The two-day course covers:
Friday
evening:
Classroom sessions on the system of
road craft with particular attention given to positioning and
cornering.
Saturday morning: An escorted ride out
session with a Class 1 Police Motorcyclist. A 3:1 ratio ensures an
accurate and personalised assessment of your riding performance
will be provided at the end of the session.
Light lunch provided.
Saturday afternoon: Informative classroom
sessions with external guest speakers on motorcycle related issues
and first aid.
The cost of the two-day course is £55.00 per person. All Bike Safe
Courses are run from Police Headquarters, Martlesham Heath,
Ipswich.
Bike Safe is suitable for all riders regardless of their biking
experience. The course is aimed at those wishing to add to the
skills they have already acquired and improve their level of riding
and general road craft.
Suffolk Constabulary runs Bike Safe in Suffolk with the support
of Suffolk Ride
Network and
Orwell
Motorcycles.
